Alerts | Overview (professional edition)

The Overview section of Treno displays items in your Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) that need attention or are in an Alert stage. This section shows issues from your project management tool, reviews from your code repository, and metrics derived from other connected systems.

To make the most of the Overview section, it's important to understand the concept of a baseline. A baseline represents the "normal" performance for your team or project. It is calculated using three months of data and is refreshed every quarter. Comparing each metric to its baseline allows Treno to spot items that are moving in the wrong direction. Viewing project issues and repository reviews against the baseline duration will help identify items that may be stuck or bottlenecked.

It is recommended that this Overview page is reviewed at least two or three times during each delivery cycle. 

Here are the recommended analysis steps for using the Overview section:

Step 1: Review the four metrics across the top of the Overview page. These metrics have been specifically selected for your organization for their ability to provide insights into how efficiently your project or team is performing.

Step 2: If any of these metrics are below their baseline, they will be highlighted in red. Click on these metrics to see a time period chart where you can determine if the metric's negative performance is due to an anomaly or a more serious issue. 

Step 3: To determine if a more serious issue is causing the metric's poor performance, it is recommended that you:

  • View the Actuals to see if any of the daily performance appears to be out of the norm. If so, click on that day in the bar chart and view the issues or reviews that may be the cause of your issue.

  • View the Rolling Average chart and see where the trend line crosses the baseline notification. Click on the related metrics to view metrics that influence the primary metric that you are reviewing. Overlaying the rolling average for these metrics can reveal the root cause of any delivery issues.

By following these analysis steps, you can use the Overview section of Treno to gain valuable insights into your SDLC's performance and identify areas that require attention or improvement.
