Metrics Boards

The Metrics section that provides users with access to all the metrics available in the system. Accounts can create multiple Metrics boards. Treno recommends grouping metrics using sections and creating boards specific for user groups.

The best practice is to create board (or a sections on a board) that allow you to perform "drill down" analysis. For example, fill the first board or section of a board with top level metrics and then fill secondary boards (or sections) with metrics that provide the details related to the those top level metrics

Regardless of how boards are composed, it is recommended to place no more than twelve metrics on an individual board.

To utilize a Metrics board for analysis, follow these steps:

Step 1: Select the board you wish you view

Step 2: Set the time period to 30 days or select the Sprint you wish to analyze.

Step 3: Look for trend change % highlighted in red. This signifies the metrics that are moving in the wrong direction.

Step 4: Any key metric trending negatively greater than 8% over a 30 day period or 10% over a 14 day period or sprint to sprint is worth reviewing deeper.

Step 5: To determine if a more serious issue is causing the metric's poor performance, it is recommended that you:

  • View the Actuals to see if any of the daily performance appears to be out of the norm. If so, click on that day in the bar chart and view the issues or reviews that may be the cause of your issue.

  • View the Rolling Average chart and see where the trend line crosses the baseline notification. Click on the related metrics to view metrics that influence the primary metric that you are reviewing. Overlaying the rolling average for these metrics can reveal the root cause of any delivery issues.

By following these analysis steps, you can use the Metrics boards to gain valuable insights into your SDLC's performance and identify areas that require attention or improvement. You can view the metrics as a list or as cards, and choose to view them as Actuals or Rolling Averages.
