Many engineering leaders desire predictability and consistency over anything else. This is because predictability and consistency help with understanding resourcing requirements as well as forecasting deliverables and costs. 

Using Treno for Planning is about tracking key metrics over longer periods of time, and then understanding how performance in those delivery metrics contributes to desired outcomes. For example, knowing the amount of work that your organization consistently delivers over a quarter, helps executives plan how many of the key initiatives should be included in the next quarter’s roadmap. Knowing output divided by the number of engineers would allow for the forecasting of capacity…and so on.
